Everyone agrees: innovation is critical for the future. However, there is a particular problem with trying to increase individual innovative thinking competency: most people don’t think about innovation on a daily basis... they’re too caught up in their daily routines and fighting the fire of the moment. So, if you send them to an innovative thinking training program and they return to work to find 200 email and voice mail requests, 3 new meetings on their calendars and 2 projects due next week, most of what they’ve just learned will be lost.

There’s got to be a better way.

There is. Imagine this: 200 people attend a 2-hour onsite launch of the InnovationIgniter where they talk about what innovation is and begin to think about a specific challenge important to the company. They break into small learning groups and watch an Igniter module and talk about how the principles of that module could help them think about the challenge in a new way. They get excited and decide to form a Spark Project team. Each person agrees to watch a module and do the activities so they can talk about it at their next project meeting. They begin using the Igniter tools and techniques and gradually craft a breakthrough concept and guide it through approval and implementation. Fast, effective … and it could happen just that way.

	Playful Break: Studies show that our brains work best in short bursts and taking frequent breaks can refresh our minds and spirits. Rather than heading off to the cafeteria for some combination of caffeine and sugar, the InnovationIgniter invites you to take a playful mental break. Carefully chosen activities give you a chance to try something fun, play a short game, or watch a particularly inspiring presentation. Two or three minutes of fun re-energizes our brains and spark new possibilities.

	Spark Project Tip: Adults learn best, and remember what they learned, when the information is practical and meaningful in the context of their lives and work. The Spark Project is your opportunity to apply these new skills and, at the same time, create meaningful new value for your organization and enhance your career. While this is a real project, it is also a small, learning project where you can be completely successful ... somewhat like learning to ride a bike for the first time by using training wheels. Each of the innovation experts who present the Igniter modules will relate the learnings to your Spark Project to help you be more successful.

	Worksheets: Some of the modules include simple worksheets to help you use the tools and techniques discussed in the faculty presentation. There is also a personal Learning Plan Worksheet which gives you a way to track your learning progress as well as tangible documentation to take with you to your next evaluation!
